Survey

An inspection by the Illinois Department of Public Health to decide if the nursing home meets state and federal standards. Almost all Illinois nursing homes are surveyed annually. Surveys are required to be unannounced, but, because they are done annually, nursing homes know approximately when they will occur. Sometimes nursing homes know to the day when they are going to occur. Nursing homes commonly hire staff, fix up the building, and fix up their records to prepare for the annual survey.
