Psychotropic drug

A drug that affects how someone thinks or feels or perceives reality. Medications such as Haldol (an anti-psychotic) and Prozac (an anti-depressant) are psychotropic drugs. The state and federal government have strict rules limiting the use of psychotropic drugs on nursing home residents.
