Medical Director
The doctor who is responsible for making sure that the nursing home follows its own resident care policies. including about infection control; use of restraints; resident physician practices; responsibilities of other health care workers for routine and emergency resident care, assessment and care planning; laboratory and pharmacy services; use of medications; use and release of residents’ clinical information; and overall quality of care . The medical director is also required to coordinate medical care in the nursing home, assuring that residents get appropriate care, supervising physician services and other medical care, investigating reports of inadequate medical care and taking appropriate steps to correct problems. This includes consulting with residents and their doctors, as necessary, and assuring that residents get care from medical specialists when needed.
